Frequently Asked Questions

Manyoni is officially in a ‘low risk’ area. The lodge owners have been living in this area for almost 20 years and there have been no recorded outbreaks of malaria. All our rooms have mosquito nets and bottles of insect repellent. If travellers are concerned, please see your family doctor for further advice.

All Year

Binoculars, hat, comfortable layered clothing, a book, camera, comfortable shoes, and sunscreen.

 

Summer (November – April)

Swimsuit, light rain jacket, and extra sunscreen.

 

Winter months (May – October)

Winter jacket, gloves, beanie, scarf, warm pyjamas, warm slippers, and closed shoes.

 

Items provided at the lodge

Mosquito repellent, umbrellas, rain ponchos, reusable water bottles, and other basic amenities.

Yes, the lodge has electricity during power outages. We have a solar system installed and there are back-up generators.

Species List

Manyoni’s diverse habitats of rolling grasslands, steep rocky hills, savannah thornveld and riverine forests host a variety of wildlife. It has over 70 mammal species, including all members of the Big 5, hippos, cheetah, black-backed jackal and giraffe. The most recent bird species count sits at 434.

Check-in at the Lodge. Arrivals after 14h30 will miss the afternoon game drive.

13:00 – 14:20 Winter Season

High tea will be served. Dietary must be provided as this menu is limited.

14:00 – 15:30 Summer Season

High tea will be served. Dietary must be provided as this menu is limited.

15:00 – 18:00 Winter Season

Afternoon game drive departs.

From 19:00

A three-course dinner will be served. Enjoy a nightcap around the fire afterwards.
