Step into Rhino River Lodge

The lodge grounds sprawl through an area of thick riverine vegetation on the banks of the Msunduze River, rich with bird and animal life, and filled with magnificent fig and fever trees. The grounds also include a reception with curio shop, dining room with bar, WIFI, lounge, and swimming pool.

Choose from three types of accommodation that suit families, small groups and couples staying at our safari lodge in KZN – double en-suite Deluxe Rooms, Family Loft Chalets, and two Private Safari Houses, The Cottage (sleeps 6) and Homestead (sleeps 6).

Deluxe Rooms

Min 1 Adult | Max 2 adults | 1 child (under 12 years)

Our most traditional style of accommodation consists of four en-suite Deluxe Rooms. The rooms are decorated in a modern rustic style, each with either one king-sized bed or two single beds covered by a large mosquito net, with an indoor sitting area and private veranda. Units 4 & 5 inter-lead, which are perfect for families travelling together.

The Hide Away

Max 2 people | 2 adults

Perfect for couples seeking a little extra privacy and luxury, The Hide Away offers a secluded and intimate retreat, ideal for celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying time together in the bush.

The air-conditioned room features a king-sized bed and its own private deck. At the rear, a walk-in wardrobe includes a tea and coffee station, bar fridge and refreshments.

The spacious en-suite bathroom includes a shower and double basin, while an adjoining private outdoor area features an open-air shower and bathtub for bathing beneath the African sky.

Family Loft Chalets

Min 2 Adults | Max 4 people

For small families wanting to share accommodation or groups of friends keen on a little extra space, our two Family Chalets can accommodate four people each. Each log-cabin-style chalet has two double bedrooms (one is a second story loft-style room, the other on the ground floor), 1 bathroom with bathtub & shower, and an open-plan living area. This chalet is closest to the main lounge, dining and pool areas of the lodge.

The Cottage

Min 3 adults | Max 6 people | 4 adults and 2 children/teenagers

This private safari home is classically styled with a nod towards African-inspired decor. Comfortable and spacious, The Cottage can accommodate six guests in two en-suite bedrooms with both indoor and outdoor showers and a loft room with a downstairs bathroom, complete with air conditioners and stunning views.

It features a cosy lounge, dining room and kitchen. The covered veranda and private swimming pool overlooking the Msunduze River are the star features of The Cottage. The perfect spot to enjoy family or friends while taking in the sights and sounds of the Zululand bush.

The Homestead

Min 3 Adults | Max 6 people | 4 Adults and 2 children/teenagers

The option for ultimate privacy and luxury is our exclusive Homestead. This stylish two-bedroom safari home can accommodate up to six guests.  Each bedroom features an en-suite bathroom with a bathtub and outdoor shower. A separate loft room with a downstairs bathroom is also available.

Stacking doors in the spacious lounge and dining area open onto a private deck at the edge of the lodge’s boundary. This modern safari home is thoughtfully designed to highlight the natural surroundings and offers stunning views of the bush and the Msunduze River. The Homestead is equipped with air conditioning and a refreshing plunge pool that overlooks the river.
